On Sunday April 2nd, Solomon were honored to play Springerfest 2017, at the Orange rooms, Southampton. A 10 hour music festival showcasing a dozen local bands in aid of the Dorothy Springer Trust, which helps disabled children in Sierra Leone with education and life prospects.
The Dorothy Springer trust story… A disabled boy from Sierra Leone, afflicted by childhood Polio, is sponsored by a secret benefactor from England. It changes his life forever. Sadly for Dr AbsDumbuya, after a long search he only discovers the name of the person who lifted him out of poverty, hardship and provided him with an education after her passing. Unable to thank her, Dr Abs Dumbuya establishes the Dorothy Springer Trust in her honour, reaching-out to disabled and disenfranchised kids from Sierra Leone to make a better life for them through education and training in computing. The total raised so far is £1,166; through a combination of online donations (http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Springerfest) and on the door ticket sales.
Solomon had an awesome 45 minute set and played several new songs to an eager crowd. We were one of a dozen acts and totally rocked the house. Our thanks to the organisers, the Springer trust and the Orange rooms for all their support.
